As a child, I grew up in northern Norway, a region where the tradition of the Sami still plays a major role. Sami live close to nature, brave the elements and traditionally have a rich symbolic shaman culture. A runebomme is a traditional drum instrument, carved with authentic runic characters. With the arrival of the Christians, the runebomme was banned. The tradition of Sami shamanism is currently experiencing a revival. The glass art I create refers to the symbols of Sami. My objects are designed from this perspective and from love for my cultural heritage.
